Neymar Jr. and Chris Brown in Instagram feud over Brazilian model

Neymar Jr is very famous on and off the pitch, largely due to his social media presence and his enviable personal life. An incredible 70.9 million people follow the young Barcelona forward’s everyday life through the picture sharing application Instagram, and the soccer star is extremely active on all of his social media accounts.

It is therefore no surprise that when Neymar decided to take issue with somebody chatting up his girlfriend, he took swift action through the medium of Instagram and delivered a warning to the hopeful suitor, putting him firmly in his place – and sparking a social media feud in the process. That somebody was none other than American rap artist Chris Brown.

Neymar reunites with girlfriend

Since 2013, the Brazil player has been linked with fellow countrywoman, actress and model Bruna Marquezine. The young couple has had a tempestuous relationship over the years, splitting several times. In 2016, it was confirmed by the pair that they had split for good, and Neymar was linked with several new romances in the meantime.

However, in 2017 it seems that things are back on once more for the young lovebirds. An Instagram post from February shows the pair dressed up for dinner and gazing at each other with affection. Bruna also sent a loving message to her footballer beau for his birthday, and appeared in a video post wishing him well on his big day. Media reports even suggest that a diamond ring may have been purchased for Miss Marquezine in February, so perhaps the most eligible bachelor in the Brazil national team will be off the market very soon!

Instagram feud with Chris Brown

Instagram users were quick to point out recently that music star Chris Brown was taking an active interest in Bruna’s Instagram account. After following the young starlet, Brown had ‘liked’ several of her posts. Having noted that he took this action with several young and attractive starlets on the site, these users warned Neymar to watch his back – and his girl.

“If he wants to talk to Bruna, just call me in private” the soccer player quipped to his followers. He added a cheeky dig at the US celebrity, comparing him to a Brazilian TV entertainer known for his clowning: “by the way, the only Brown I know is Carlinhos.” It is unclear if Chris has taken up this offer of a chat, but he didn’t take kindly to the comparison and fired his own shots at Neymar, posting a video of Barcelona’s star forward dancing awkwardly. It remains to be seen if the incident will escalate, but it certainly shows Neymar is looking out for Bruna.

Chris Brown is a successful rap and RnB artist, but it is perhaps the controversies surrounding his relationships for which he is better known. The American star famously dated megastar Rihanna, but she ended their partnership after pictures emerged of her appearing bloodied and beaten in a 2009 assault by Brown. Another ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, has a restraining order against the singer which she hopes to extend when it runs out in 2017.

With previous form for violence, perhaps Chris Brown isn’t the kind of person you want hitting on someone you care about. Whether Neymar and Bruna are back together for good or have already called a day on their turbulent relationship, it is easy to see why the soccer star took offense to Brown’s interest in the young actress. At least she has a protective and caring young man to look out for her, and maybe this time things will work out for them – hopefully the couple has finally worked out their differences and are on their way to a happy future.
