How many times has Neymar been sent off in his career?
It’s usually the other way around, but sometimes, talented players like Neymar can also lose their cool and end up being sent off from the field. It happened against Colombia just a few days ago, but it’s actually been the 6th time Neymar has seen the red card in a football match. Let’s go back in time and go through all the incidents:
#1: Santos 3-4 Palmeiras (March 14 of 2010)
The first time Neymar got sent off happened when he was only 17 years old and with only 9 minutes left on the clock for the game to finish. The Brazilian ace lost the possession and couldn’t hide his frustrations when he decided to go for a hard tackle.

#2: Santos 3-2 Colo Colo (June 6 of 2011)
Probably one of the weirdest send-offs we’ll ever see. Neymar had just scored a brilliant solo goal for Santos in a Copa Libertadores game, when he decided to put on a mask of his own face during the celebrations. The referee felt forced to show him the 2nd yellow card and sent him off.
#3: Atletico Mineiro 2-1 Santos (October 13 of 2011)
Once again, Neymar took his frustrations on the referee and ended up seeing the red card after complaining and protesting with the referee. His team was already one man down and was forced to finish this game with 9 men on the pitch.
#4: Gremio 1-1 Santos (September 30 of 2012)
A stomp when his opponent’s was on the ground led to Neymar‘s 4th red card in his time in Brazil. The referee spotted it and didn’t hesitate in sending the Brazilian star to the locker rooms before the final whistle.

#5: Ponte Preta 3-1 Santos (February 17 of 2013)
With his hair dyed in blonde, Neymar got involved in a few pushes and grabbing with one of his opponents on that night. The referee didn’t like seeing that and showed both players the red card

#6: Brazil 0-1 Colombia (June 17 of 2015)
Following a tough loss against Colombia in a Copa America fixture, Neymar got into a few arguments with several of his opponents and has allegedly kicked the ball at Armero, before headbutting Jeison Murillo. This all happened after the final whistle was blown, but referee spotted it all and still showed Bacca and the Brazilian superstar a very costly red card.
