Malaga 0-0 Barcelona: First points dropped in the league

Full-time: Malaga 0-0 Barcelona
Goals:
Match date: September 24, 2014
Stadium: La Rosaleda
Competition: La Liga
Barcelona line-up: Bravo, Jordi Alba, Bartra, Piqué, Douglas, Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic, Pedro, Neymar, Lionel Messi.

Barcelona dropped their first points in La Liga this season, after coming out of La Rosaleda with a goalless draw against Malaga. After 4 straight wins in the competition, the Blaugranas finally found an opponent who managed to hold off their attacking intents. The hosts finished the game without allowing Barça to even get a single shot on target…

Despite the disappointing result, Luis Enrique‘s side is yet to concede a single goal in the league, all this after having already scored a total of 11 goals in 5 games. However and against Malaga, they bumped into a very well organized and packed defense, whom in no circumstance have ever granted Barça the space and time they needed to execute their attacking plays.

Luis Enrique basically only changed two players from the line-up he had used last week against Levante and they were both in defence. Mascherano gave his place to for Bartra, while Douglas made his debut in Daniel Alves‘ right-back usual spot. In attack, Neymar had Lionel Messi and Pedro‘s company, but none of them really got to create many problems to the hosts throughout the whole 90 minutes of the game. It’s the first time in 5 years that Barça finishes a game without hitting the target once…

This Saturday there’s already a Barcelona vs Granada for La Liga, with the Blaugranas determined to get back on the winning track. With Real Madrid visting Villarreal, there’s a good chance that we might see a few more surprises in this league before the end of the month…
