Neymar: “Messi, Schweinsteiger and Robben were the best players in the World Cup”
Neymar has decided to share his opinion on a few things that have happened in the recent 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in an interview granted from his home, in São Paulo. He started by pointing out that the best goal scored in this World Cup was James Rodríguez stunner in Colombia vs Uruguay, a player who is curiously said to be very close to come to Spain and sign for Real Madrid.
As for the World Cup‘s Ballon d’Or (an award meant to distinguish the best player in the tournament), Neymar preferred to grant a more diplomatic answer when he was asked to comment on the fact that many people disagreed with his teammate in FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi, winning it.
Neymar: “I can’t really say if it’s fair or not. In my opinion, there were 3 players who stood out more than others, and they were Messi [Argentina], Schweinsteiger [Germany] and Robben [Netherlands]”, stated the 22-year old Brazilian forward, who is still recovering from a fractured vertebra on his back.
One of the toughest moments Neymar has ever lived on a football pitch happened during that Brazil vs Colombia game in this World Cup. The Brazilian was sent to the ground after being hit with a knee from Zuniga and Brazil would basically collapse in every possible way from that moment on…
Neymar: “I’m not going to defend what Zuniga did, but I already accepted his apologies. What I remember from that play was to hear Marceloasking me to stand up and me telling him to wait just a few seconds. I then heard our doctor saying I was going to be replaced and I tried to get up on my own. That was when I realized I couldn’t even do that… It took me 2 to 3 days to assimilate what had happened to me”, revealed the Barcelona star, who is expected to return to training somewhere late in August.
Barcelona‘s next friendly will be against Nice, on the 2nd of August. Neymar won’t be available yet, as he continues recovering from his back injury.
