Neymar’s transfer fee could actually go up to €169M
According to latest reports in Spain, it seems like the initial 57.1 million euros that Barcelona for so long insisted to have been the exact sum they paid for Neymar, are now a quite distant from the his true signing cost.
The Brazilian forward got transferred from Santos to FC Barcelona last summer and as it was reported pretty much everywhere, his transfer fee tag was set at the 57.1 million euros. However, newspaper “As” in Spain has come up with a new equation involving the total transfer costs and they now claim that Barça may actually pay up to 169 million euros as the price for having brought Neymar to the Catalan club.
Here’s a breakdown of all the costs related to this controversy Neymar transfer process:
-> Federative rights: 17 million euros
-> Compensation: 40 million euros
-> Bonus: 10 million euros
-> Commission paid to Neymar’s father: 2.7 million euros
-> Ballon d’Or variable: 2 million euros
-> Sponsors: 4 million euros
-> Social projects: 2.5 million euros
-> First refusal on Santos players: 7.9 million euros
-> Scouting in Brazil: 2 million euros
-> Friendly match between Santos and Barcelona: 4.5 million euros
-> Voluntary tax payment: 13.5 million euros
-> Unpaid tax: 9.1 million euros
-> Potential fine for tax frauding: 54.6 million euros
A huge parcel of these costs is still related to the tax fraud issue though and let’s just hope that while everything gets settled in the courts, this while process doesn’t affect much Neymar on the football pitches… The 22-year old star is currently with the Brazilian National Team, as they’re hosting and preparing their debut in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The opening game of the tournament will see Brazil taking on Croatia on June 12, in São Paulo.
