Thiago Silva: “Neymar will be the star of this FIFA World Cup”

Everyone in Brazil seems to be confident that Neymar will be claiming the spotlight over this summer’s FIFA World Cup. Short time after FC Barcelona‘s right-back Daniel Alves stated that his club teammate will show how special he is in the upcoming major tournament, it was now time for PSG‘s centre back Thiago Silva to show his support to the 22-year old forward.

Thiago Silva: “This team’s main strengths have always been our overall quality as a group, but it’s obvious that a player as good as Neymar will be vital to us because he can change games on his own. Just like everyone else in Brazil, Neymar is ready for what’s coming ahead and I’m sure he’ll be the star of this FIFA World Cup 2014“, stated the former AC Milan defender.

Brazil will face Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon in Group A, but at this stage of the year, no one really believes that the “Escrete” could face failure and not go through to the knock-out rounds. The main goal will always be to become World Champions at home though and there’s nothing that would please more the Brazilian fans than precisely that…

Thiago Silva: “I think everything is in our favor so that we may have a successful campaign and win the World Cup in July. That’s something we’ve been dreaming about for a long time now and I can promise you that I’ll give everything I have to help accomplishing that dream!”, enthusiastically remarked the 29-year old defender.

This Tuesday (June 3), Brazil takes on Panama in their first of two friendlies ahead of the World Cup. Neymar and his teammates will make their World Cup debut against Croatia, on June 12.
