Another easy win for Barça in La Liga and this time the victims were Real Sociedad. The Basque came to the Camp Nou with some legitimate aspirations, but ended up crushed by 4-1 in a game where Neymar has delivered one os his best performances as a Barcelona player so far. The opener came on still inside the first 5 minutes of the game, through a play on the right started by Alexis Sanchez. The former Udinese forward took on several defenders and in a clumsy sort of way he managed to sent in a low cross into a dangerous area. Real‘s defenders and goalkeeper messed it up and failed to clear the ball away, leaving Neymar with the easy task of pushing the ball in to an empty goal.
Barcelona kept pushing forward and would reach their second on the night just four minutes later. Neymar returned the favor to his teammates and this time he ran down the left wing, got past several defenders and put in a cross to the far post. Lionel Messi came from behind to meet it and headed it past Claudio Bravo, to make it 2-0 for the home side. The 3-0 arrived on the 23rd minute, but not before Lionel Messi failing to score from a backheel trick very similar to the one Cristiano Ronaldo pulled off last Sunday against Getafe and hitting the crossbar in the rebound of that shot. Sergio Busquets collected the ball near Real Sociedad‘s penalty area entrance and fired away a rocket into the back of the net. A 3 goal advantage had just been earned around the mid-point of the first half and the mission for this Tuesday night was already almost completed at that point.
De la Bella reduced for the visitors deep in the second half, exposing a lack of concentration in Barcelona‘s defense, as the man-marking was quite poor. It wasn’t enough to disturb Barça‘s game plan though, and the Blaugrana sealed the deal in the 76th minute, after a brilliant play from Messi on the left that ended with him assisting Marc Bartra for an easy tap-in goal.
With this win, Barcelona continues leading La Liga with 6 wins out of 6 games, while Atletico Madrid runs right behind and tied with the same amount of points (18) and Real Madrid on 3rd with 1 game less and 5 points under. Barça‘s next game will be an away fixture against Almeria, right this Saturday (28-09-2013).
