Barcelona got past another opponent this past Saturday, but despite the looks of an easy win, the game was actually a bit complicated for Tato Martino‘s men. Rayo Vallecano performed very well during the first half of the game, but couldn’t prevent Barça from getting the lead close to the half an hour. Alex Song recovered a ball deep in Barça‘s midfield, sent it over to Messi who then got rid of two defenders and assisted Pedro for the opener.
A few minutes later Rayo earned a penalty-kick, but Victor Valdés pulled off a great save and made sure that his side would go into half-time with a precious 1-goal lead. The 0-2 arrived a couple minutes after the break, in a fast attacking play where Fabregas got to assist Pedro from the left, for a simple tap-in finish. The 0-3 came off as as being the product of a brilliant play from Neymar, who worked his way inside Rayo‘s penalty area in order to assist Pedro for another easy and empty net goal.
The last goal of the match was scored by Cesc Fabregas, in a period where Rayo had alread dropped their arms. With this victory, Barcelona continues leader in La Liga, with 5 wins out of 5 games and with Atletico Madrid leveled in points, while Real Madrid is chasing them with two points behind.
